The aim of the Hungarian National Museum Archaeology Database is to support research, teaching and learning. The database was created as part of the ARIADNE program that brings together 24 institutions from 16 European countries. The aim of ARIADNE is to integrate existing, but scattered, archaeological datasets (mainly grey literature) in order to provide a unified platform through information technologies. There is a large availability of archaeological digital datasets and more are continuously created as a result of the increasing use of IT. The potential of these datasets is constrained by difficult access and non-homogenous perspectives. ARIADNE integrates these datasets and provides tools, guidance, and the creation of new innovative Web-based services. Thus international data repositories will become accessible and researchable within a unified platform.
Registration is required to take full advantage of the database.
